1976 journeys through the ghettos, farmlands and lifestyles of Cuba as scenes build and unfold blurring the distinction between the propaganda and the everyday reality of struggling to survive. The concept of the video was to capture the flair of the Latin influence in the song "1976" by RJD2.

This is an inspirational piece. I am blown away by the production and how this is such a wonderful depiction of Cuba. In telling a story i reckon it is such a great journalistic production. Strangely, i think i have smoked a cigar with one of the tobacco farmers depicted.

The production is wonderful. You all definitely capture the whole Afro-Cuban diasporic time capsule aspect of Cuba, however when are we going to see more gutsy takes of the GLOBAL African diaspora? Cuba has been exhausted for the past century, we all know Cuba's cultural limelight will go down like Digby once the first McDonald pops up after Castro's passing. So with over 250 miliion African brothers and sisters in India and another 250 million African brothers and sisters on the Western hemisphere when will someone with the $$$ take on such endeavor to present it? I would of, if wasn't so broke, ages ago! :) Peace and enjoy the project if you take it on...And to all Africans everywhere HOTEP.

I first saw this when Brian Storm showed it at the 2006 NPPA Conference in Oklahoma. I was immediately floored. Absolutely amazed. Since then it has influenced my editing style and graphic schemes greatly. I just had to say to everyone involved in making it, that it's one of the coolest things ever, and has really changed my life. Hopefully one day I'll be able to make something as cool.
